Are you someone who wants to start your social media management journey?

But, you have no clue how and where to start?

Then, this article is for you. In this article, I will tell about a book on Social Media Management for beginners. The name of this book is “the Social pro CODE” by Carrie Rodrigues.

About the author: -

First, let me tell you about the author. Carrie is a social media manager based in Goa. She is a Mathematics graduate with no background in business. Carrie started her journey as a social media manager from scratch. After freelancing in Social Media Management for about 2 years Carrie wrote this book to share her experience and knowledge on social media and freelancing to help other aspiring social media professionals.

The overview of the book:-

So, now let’s talk about the book. This book has a total of 17 chapters and I must say Carrie has done a beautiful job writing each chapter. Each chapter is placed properly and they are full of values.

Carrie has focused on mainly Instagram & Facebook which are the two most important social media platforms and perfect starting points for beginners.

Carrie’s way of writing is really commendable. She has written this whole book in a very fun and interactive way. You will never feel bored while reading it. She has included her own experiences in relevant places so that you feel connected with her stories.

At the end of each chapter, Carrie has included some tasks called “BOULDER” for readers so that readers not only read but implement their learnings.

About the chapters:-

  • In the first two chapters, Carrie talked about if Social Media Management is the right career choice for your or not and the right kind of mindset for a Social Media Manager. At the end of these two chapters, you’ll learn if you’re a right fit for this career or not and you’ll learn how to have the right kind of mindset to start this journey.

  • The next two chapters are about confidence and time management. Carrie discussed how confidence can bring you success and proper time-management skills can help you grow faster as a social media marketing freelancer. She has given some tips on how to manage your time as a social media manager. These tips are definitely mind-blowing. In some chapters, she has included some pro tips which will help you to think out of the box and grow faster.

  • Then she talked about up-skilling and how to set up a new Instagram account properly. If you want to use your Instagram account for your business/freelancing needs, then you must have a business account and it should be optimized properly. She has given a step-by-step process to set up the account so that your account is approachable and attractive to your clients.

  • The next chapter is all about how to use your Instagram account to get success. In this chapter, she has described how to use each feature of Instagram in an effective way. She shared multiple content ideas, strategies, formulas etc. This is one of my favourite chapters. One of my favourite strategies in this chapter is her DM strategy. This strategy teaches you how to use DM to get clients & build a community. She has named her strategy as “C-C-W-U-F formula”.

  • Next, she gave some tips on how to prevent burnout and keep going. As a freelancer, sometimes you have to manage multiple clients at the same time, do multiple back-end works and other related stuffs. So, it’s very common that sometimes you get extremely tired and feel burnt out. So, keeping that in mind Carrie added this chapter and provided useful tips to prevent burnout.

  • The next chapter is about Facebook. She has talked about different Facebook content types and tools to get success as a Facebook Manager.

  • The next two chapters are my favourites. It’s all about how to price your services as a social media freelancer and how to create a highly converting portfolio. Honestly, I learned a lot from these two chapters. You will learn how to create a portfolio in a step-by-step process, what to include and how to include and how to create products out of your services.

  • The next chapter is about how to get your first client and how to onboard your client. These chapters are again very helpful for any newbie freelancer. She has explained a lot of strategies on how to get a client. These strategies are absolutely brilliant and extremely useful for any freelancer.

  • Sometimes as a freelancer, we have to deal with tough clients also right? So, in the next chapter, she has explained, how to deal with those kinds of clients. She has also given ideas on how to deal with them and how to come out of these kinds of situations.

  • The next chapter is about how to open a social media marketing agency. When you start to get many clients, it’s hard to manage all the clients just by yourself. So, at that time you can expand your business by hiring some more people and eventually open an agency. So, in this chapter, she has explained the process of opening an agency starting from planning & hiring to running full-fledged operations.

  • In the next chapter, she has talked about providing 1:1 consultancy services. At the end of this chapter, you will get a clear idea of how you can start your own profitable consultancy business.

  • The last chapter is all about setting up a next-level mindset. Once you become a successful freelancer, start an agency, start doing consultations then what next? what are the next things you can do? How you can become more successful? You can learn about these in this chapter.

This book is perfect for beginners and any aspiring social media manager and it gives you full guidance and knowledge to become a successful social media manager. I highly recommend this book!
